Share ownership by these Elite Investors determines a company’s status as an Elite Company. Top-performing portfolio managers must have an ‘overweight’ position in a company – holding a higher percentage of its shares than the stock market they operate in – for it to qualify as an Elite Company.

Elite Companies Ratings

A unique company rating system based on where the world’s best fund managers are investing their clients’ money.

Using an actuarially approved process that draws on the research of academics and professional investors, we measure the conviction of every Elite Investor with an overweight position in a company’s shares.

The aggregated conviction of these investors determines the Elite Companies Rating.The top 10% highest conviction stocks receive AAA ratings, the next 20% are awarded AA, the next 30% A and the remaining 40% are rated +. Elite Companies Ratings are calculated for all companies in the database. Elite Companies Ratings logos are displayed for companies which pay Citywire a licence fee for an enhanced factsheet.

Large Cap, Small/Mid Cap

Each of the 57 different global markets covered by the Elite Companies database is split into both Large Cap and Small/Mid-Cap companies, based on their market capitalisations. The level of the split varies between different markets, depending on the typical size of companies listed on those markets.

Investment Themes

Every Elite Company is mapped to at least one of 18 Investment Themes, which reflect the global trends that matter to investors. Drawing on the investment themes developed by leading financial services groups, companies are categorised based on their exposure to these long-term trends. Industries

Our Elite Companies database is split into 55 industries, based on companies’ operational characteristics.

Articles 8 and 9

A filter that allows you to search for companies in our database held in funds meeting the criteria for Articles 8 or 9 of the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosures Regulation. Article 8 funds feature environmental and sustainable considerations as part of their investment process, while Article 9 funds have sustainability and environmental investing as their objective. To qualify, companies must be held in at least two Article 8 or 9 exchange-traded funds from 23 selected to provide exposure across all global stock markets.
