Warna Baru, Amsterdam West

The Jan Pieter Heijestraat is packed with hospitality establishments, including the relatively new Gitane. But there’s always room for more; as one place closes, the next one opens. And so, the Japanese Betsubara recently made way for Warna Baru, Amsterdam-West’s newest Indonesian hotspot.

In Amsterdam-West, you are indeed at the right place for Indonesian cuisine. On Admiraal de Ruijterweg, you’ll find Betawi; iBoenda is a hit on Clerqstraat, and not far from Warna Baru is Café Amoi located.

Menu Warna Baru

The owners of Warna Baru Amsterdam aim to let their guests experience as much of the Indonesian menu as possible, which is why it consists of shared dining dishes. Order two to three dishes per person, and you’ll get to taste the various flavors of Indonesia. The dinner menu includes some must-try classics: pangsit goreng ayam, gado gado, telor bumbu Bali, rendang, and satay ayam – just to name a few. A golden tip: save some room for dessert, as their “spekkoek” (layered Indonesian cake) has already been deemed legendary by the first guests.

The soft opening is now behind them, and with only five-star reviews on Google, we can’t help but conclude that Warna Baru is becoming a resounding success. If you want a sneak peek behind the scenes, check out their Instagram, where the owners guide you through the renovation and showcase their latest dishes.

Interested in dining at this new place? Reserve a table through their website. You can dine from Tuesday to Sunday between 17:00 and 22:00 hours.
